Ethical Lecture of Traditional Chinese Ceremony Hold by the school of International Education
On 4th December, 2019, the school of International Education carried out the ethical lecture of traditional Chinese ceremony in order that the functions of the culture could be improved in terms of students’ qualities. Professor Tu Denghong was invited to deliver the lecture for overseas students.
Professor Tu, at the beginning, related the definition of ceremony which refers to the concept of value and manners formed by particular nationality or tradition in order to stabilize the society. Then, the originality of traditional Chinese ceremonies and four types of main ceremonies-birth ceremony，coming-of-age ceremony，wedding ceremony and funeral ceremony-were introduced to the oversea students. With the development of the society, despite of the cultural diversity of each country, yet the ceremony offers a chance to express oneself in a perfect way: when being out of family, one is the representative of his parents,when being abroad,one the whole country.
In the end, Professor Tu deeply hopes that the overseas students at present will make every effort to learn Chinese culture of ceremony and spread it abroad for making contribution to the cultural communication between their own counties and China.
